Story: Following a successful invasion of Sicily by the Allied forces, their next target was Italy. The plans for the invasion were
to send assualt groups towards Salerno with the intentions to capture the port of Naples. The invasion was dubbed Operation
Avalanche. What followed was anything but a smooth assualt as the days succeding the invasion were met with heavy German resistance.
Layout:Avalanche is a control points based gametype in which the goal is to control all five flags, or sectors, in order to achieve
victory. At each end of the map are two faction specific flags (two for the Axis team, and two for the Allied team) with a nuetral
flag in the middle of the map.
Design Goal: The purpose of creating Operation Avalanche was a personal design challenge to pay tribute
to a popular map from the Half Life Mod: Day of Defeat, and convert it from the Source engine to the Unreal Development Kit (UDK).
